Selection of Spill Kits & Absorbents
Spill response and the management of dangerous goods and hazardous substances is not only a workplace health and safety requirement, it is a critical process in maintaining a safe workplace and protecting the environment.
To prevent pollution and minimise your environmental liability you need, basic containment and clean-up equipment and training to make sure employees understand how to use spill equipment
Industrial spill kits generally come in three versions for the clean-up of different types of liquid spills.
Depending on site requirements, the range is available in; general purpose, oil/fuel and chemical which include individual sorbents such as pads, rolls, socks, booms and loose absorbents.
General Purpose
Absorbs both oil and water based liquids. Suitable for use indoors when both oil and water based liquids have the potential to be spilt. Should not be used on oil in water or oil outside where it might be raining.

What size kit do you require and how many?
To select the size and number of spill kits required, you must calculate the worst potential spill that could occur at any one time e.g. if 10 x 200L drums of liquid are held on-site and the worst potential spill is two drums at any one time, you would require the capacity to clean up 400L of liquid – therefore 2 x 240L mobile spill kits would be ideal.
It is recommended that in large operations the Spill Kits should be placed 30 metres apart for ease of access.
